Discover The Indian Bistro

If you're looking for a cozy spot that serves flavorful Indian cuisine in a welcoming environment, The Indian Bistro on 282 Main St in Arcade, NY, is a must-visit. With its charming ambiance and rich menu offering a variety of traditional Indian dishes, this diner quickly stands out as a local favorite for both regulars and newcomers. Whether you're a fan of spicy curries or freshly baked naan, there’s something here to satisfy every palate.

Upon entering, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting space that blends contemporary design with subtle Indian influences. The vibrant colors and tasteful decor make it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with friends, family, or even a solo dining experience. The atmosphere feels like an extension of the food itself-warm, comforting, and full of flavor.

The menu at The Indian Bistro is extensive, featuring both well-known favorites and lesser-known regional specialties. Whether you're craving a classic chicken tikka masala or something more adventurous like lamb rogan josh, the selection is sure to impress. One standout dish is the butter chicken-perfectly tender pieces of chicken simmered in a rich, creamy tomato sauce that strikes a balance between savory and sweet. Another must-try is the biryani, a fragrant rice dish that’s packed with flavor and can be customized with your choice of meat or vegetables.

The restaurant is particularly praised for its variety of vegetarian and vegan options. Dishes like dal tadka (spiced lentils) and palak paneer (spinach and cheese) cater to all dietary preferences without compromising on flavor. The chefs at The Indian Bistro take great pride in using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, which is apparent in every bite.

For those unfamiliar with Indian cuisine, it’s helpful to know that meals here are typically served with naan (a type of flatbread), basmati rice, or a combination of both. The naan is soft, fluffy, and perfect for dipping into the rich, flavorful gravies. The restaurant also offers a variety of chutneys and pickles to complement the meal, adding an extra layer of complexity to each bite.

When it comes to drinks, The Indian Bistro offers a small but well-curated selection of beverages, from traditional Indian chai tea to lassis-refreshing yogurt-based drinks that come in a variety of flavors. The mango lassi, in particular, pairs perfectly with the spicy dishes, offering a cooling effect that helps balance the heat.

One of the best aspects of dining at The Indian Bistro is the personalized service. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that your dining experience is as comfortable as it is enjoyable. They’re happy to recommend dishes or help navigate the menu, especially if it’s your first time exploring Indian cuisine. This attention to detail and customer satisfaction truly sets the restaurant apart from others in the area.

If you're visiting with a group, you might want to consider ordering a variety of dishes to share. The portions are generous, and sharing allows you to sample a wide range of the menu offerings. From tangy appetizers like samosas and pakoras to hearty mains and indulgent desserts, there’s no shortage of options to explore.

For dessert, The Indian Bistro offers traditional Indian sweets like gulab jamun (fried dough balls soaked in syrup) and kheer (rice pudding), which are perfect for rounding off your meal on a sweet note. The desserts are rich but not overwhelmingly so, making them the ideal end to a satisfying meal.

Location-wise, The Indian Bistro is conveniently located in the heart of Arcade, making it an easy stop whether you’re out for a casual meal or celebrating a special occasion. Its central location ensures that it attracts both locals and visitors passing through the area, giving it a vibrant, bustling vibe.

The reviews for The Indian Bistro consistently praise both the food and the service. Many mention the authenticity of the dishes, noting that the flavors are true to the roots of Indian cooking while also being accessible to those new to the cuisine. The restaurant’s popularity continues to grow, making reservations a good idea, especially on weekends or during busy hours.

For anyone in the Arcade area craving an authentic, flavorful Indian meal, The Indian Bistro offers a fantastic dining experience. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely dinner, this spot checks all the boxes with its diverse menu, friendly atmosphere, and high-quality dishes.

  • Highly recommend Indian Bistro!! We split the butter chicken, stir fry chicken, chicken biryani, and some garlic naan of course — everything was super flavorful and the portions were great. The owner and our server were both so friendly and welcoming. Both of them even helped us pick a few dishes and offered some recommendations for future visits as well. Great spot — we’ll definitely be back!!

  • Best Indian food I've ever had, right here in Arcade. Everything is fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. Chicken curry is one of my favorites, and the mango lassis are out of this world. So good that I even had to order an extra one, to-go. Looking forward to trying everything on the menu.

  • The food here is delicious!!!!!! Everything is made fresh. No tough food sitting under a warmer…it is always hot and tender. The flavors are bold and savory. We order take out from here frequently. The owners are kind and professional. Love having them in our town. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • We went to dinner with no intentions of getting Indian food but the other place was closed. We didn’t even know there was an Indian place in the area so we decided to stop in and omg am I glad we did!!!! My favorite Indian place closed years ago in the north towns and haven’t found a decent place until now. I had lamb biryani and my husband had the chicken vindaloo. The herbs in biryani were so delicious, the meat was so tender, and it had a slight spice- so good. The vindaloo was so so so creamy and the flavor was just right. We both devoured our plates and could’ve licked the plates clean. I also washed it down with a mango lassi. The cook/owner came out with samples of her dessert that were so delicious. I would’ve ordered some but I was so deliciously full I couldn’t breathe haha. Cannot wait to go back!!!

  • I ate here with a friend last year and we ordered many appetizers and a main course each because we wanted to sample the menu. It was amazing. Subsequently both of us ordered take out through the year. When we found out the ownership had changed hands we were anxious to try the new menu. Again, amazing. We dined in last night and the food was delicious. The portions huge and the service great. I’ve seen negative reviews, mainly about the time to wait for food. Indian cuisine is not fast food. It’s made fresh to order. If you want quality take out, you’ll wait for it, or order ahead. If you want fast food that’s lacking in quality and freshness, go to McDonald’s! I love this place

  • It was so refreshing to find fresh made dishes from real ingredients in this area. My food was incredible. I had the Chicken 65, the Milk tea and the vegetable Samosas. Presentation was great too, made an ordinary quick stop for a meal feel special. Staff was also incredible. Hope they stick around for a long time. Go give them a try, you won’t be disappointed. Surroundings were also very clean. Wanted to add photos but didn’t figure that out.

  • Fantastic meal! The appetizer platter was delicious and our waiter was kind enough to explain what we were trying. It was delicious. We had the butter chicken and chicken curry, they were both fantastic and very flavorful. The naan could have been more garlicky but was still good! Only downside was it did take a bit to get our food but again once it came out, it was delicious! Very spacious area!
